ROBERT HEMMINGS – F.C.I.P.D., M.I.Mech E, C. Eng

After working initially for British Aerospace Research and Development he then moved into personnel management. Subsequently he worked in a number of HR roles in high technology industries and ultimately as the European HR Manager in Prime Computer.

In 1989 Rob started undertaking independent management consulting. This has involved him working on some interesting and substantial projects in various roles up to Director level.

Compensation and Benefits projects have been a common feature of the work Rob has undertaken. Such projects have encompassed Reward Strategy, Harmonisation Programmes, Compensation Proposals, Incentive Plan Design, Share Scheme Development, Goal Setting Programmes, Salary Reviews, Benefits Reviews, Appraisal Systems, Talent Retention and Salary Surveys. He has developed a competency-based job evaluation system and lectured on Reward Management for the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development’s (CIPD’s) professional qualifications.

Project management has always been a strong theme in Rob’s work. His TQM work at Xerox led him to undertake a number of large change management projects aimed at major cost reduction, consolidation and business turnaround. He has also been involved in projects to develop a number of new computer systems as well as almost every aspect of personnel work including relocation and refurbishments.
