Senior Consulting Partner
Peter Cumpstey is the founder and Managing Partner of his own business, specialising in developing the performance of both people and businesses - and with a particular focus on driving change, strategic HR processes & developing leadership skills. Peter has 20 years of corporate experience in a wide range of senior management roles in Management Development, Consulting and Financial Services.
Prior to starting his own business Peter’s experience spanned a wide range of senior management roles within major Consultancy and Financial Services organisations including Head of Finance for the UK Corporate Division of Midland Bank UK, Head of Credit for HSBC’s European Private Bank and Chief Operating Officer for the HSBC’s UK Private Banking businesses. In his Head of Finance role Peter set up new performance reporting processes and management information systems that transformed the business. Subsequently Peter joined KPMG Management Consulting as a Lead Principal Consultant, leading multinational change and strategic development initiatives for global companies in the UK, mainland Europe, America and the Far East.
Peter’s key skills lie in strategic analysis, HR processes, performance improvement, change facilitation and leadership development. His achievements in working closely with businesses to deliver both strategic & cultural change, whilst delivering measurable performance improvements have earned him respect as a motivational leader, an accomplished “man-manager”, and as a highly effective HR consultant and coach.
Recent assignments include job analysis and description, organisational structuring and employee engagement survey for Saudi low-cost airline; HR service review together with performance improvement projects for the HR function of a major Riyadh based manufacturing company; job evaluation, compensation & benefits analysis and implementation for a Middle Eastern specialized cables manufacturer, design & delivery of Leadership Development programme for the Board of Directors and top 150 Directors/Senior Managers in one of the ground-breaking private-public partnership businesses that ran London’s Underground; design & implementation of recruitment and selection processes in a large public sector organisation; senior executive coaching & mentoring for several global companies; design of new recruitment and partnership development processes for a major International Law firm and a Structural Review for a Saudi Arabian property finance provider. He recently designed and ran an Organisational Change Master-class to develop the performance of the core transformation and improvement team for Europe’s largest aviation and defence-systems company.
Peter has recently been appointed by the UK Chartered Management Institute (CMI) to author fifteen leadership and management development scenarios (audio/visual case studies for web-based delivery) including the presentation of the “expert feedback” that will provide a centre-piece for the CMI’s new eLearning provision. Additionally Peter has co-authored course texts in Organisational Change and Performance Management for the new Strategic Management and Leadership Diploma (at Level 7 – Post-graduate/MBA Level) and is Subject Matter Expert for Level 7 units in Strategic Leadership Practice, Risk Management and Being a Strategic Leader.
Qualified in a number of psychometric tools including MBTI, Apter Motivational Styles & SDI, Peter has had papers published by Organisation & People (The Quarterly Journal of AMED) and e-Learning Age.
